PASSPORTS AND VISAS

Every citizen who wishes to enter El Salvador must comply with the following requirements:

  • Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months.
  • Ticket: Submit a ticket for your return trip or transit to continue the trip.
  • Taxes: Upon leaving El Salvador, you must pay a tax of (US $ 40). Some airlines already include this tax on the ticket price.
  • Confirmation of accommodation: For some citizens.
  • International Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever: Persons who proceed before entering El Salvador, or who have stayed for more than 10 days in Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Venezuela, Paraguay or the African continent, shall receive the yellow fever vaccine at least 10 days before your trip.

    Since 2005, El Salvador has been part of the CONVENTION FOR THE CREATION OF THE UNI CENTRAL AMERICAN VISA FOR FREE MOBILITY OF FOREIGNERS BETWEEN THE REPUBLICS OF EL SALVADOR, HONDURAS, GUATEMALA AND NICARAGUA, which defines according to the country of origin of the citizen who wishes to visit El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras (CA-4), the type of visa that you must have.

    • Exempt from visa (ie you do NOT need a visa to enter the country).
    • Exempt from visa with payment of tourist card. (Which is acquired at the border points of established income or at the International Airport of El Salvador).
    • Apply for a consular visa, which are granted at the Diplomatic or Consular Representations of El Salvador.
    • Request a visa consulted, which are granted prior authorization from the General Directorate of Immigration and Foreigners.

      *Persons who arrive prior to entering El Salvador, or who have stayed for more than 10 days in Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Venezuela, Paraguay or the African continent, should receive the yellow fever vaccine, for at least 10 days before your trip.
